THE SCENIC ROUTE FROM BONAVISTA TO KEELS

Take the scenic route, you won’t be disappointed! Our tour travels up the coast of Bonavista Bay through the coastal fishing communities of Newman’s Cove, Amherst Cove, Stock Cove, King’s Cove, Duntara and Keels. You’ll learn about the unique history and enriched culture of each coastal town along the way.

While in Keels we will stop to explore some unique geological features such as the ‘Devil’s Footprints” and find out where Don McKellar’s 2014 comedy The Grand Seduction was filmed. In Kings Cove, we will hike the former country road, once known as “Batterton’s Path”, which connects the lighthouse, built-in 1893, to the community. The trail provides access to spectacular coastal scenery and remarkable geological sequences such as the Crown Hill formation at Brook Point. Relax at the picnic site on the grounds of the Old School, enjoy the smell of wildflowers or stop to pick blueberries near Pat Murphy’s meadows on your way to the lighthouse.
